Hello Marching Band Family,
It was so good to see the kids back on the “field” this past week as I, along with many of you, have missed the marching band season. As many of you know, we have a tradition to create buttons with the marching band students’ picture. The photos are voluntary and is a fun way to capture the memory of the marching band experience. I am working to incorporate this experience in this non-typical year. Since we have not done formal uniform assignments, this year’s button photos will be in the unofficial band uniform. This will still allow us to capture this year’s marching class and its uniqueness to this year.
For those not familiar, the unofficial uniform is the blue HCHS band shirt and solid black bottoms (can be shorts or pants/joggers). The freshman marchers will receive their blue band shirt upon arrival of their assigned practice day. Given that the student will go to practice after the photo is taken, the student should have their masks and instrument/equipment with them.
I will plan to be at the school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of next week (Oct 12-14) to take the pictures of the students. In order to do this efficiently, we will target doing this during an earlier arrival on the day you meet with your group – percussion & color guard on Monday, woodwinds on Tuesday and brass on Wednesday. In order to accomplish this, anyone that is interested in having their photo taken, please arrive at 4pm on your assigned day (color guard at 4:30 on Monday). Before the pictures are taken, the student will do the normal health check with the directors and then be sent to the picture area.
I will plan to send an email shortly after taking the photos with an order form for purchasing buttons.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
