HCBAND: Updated Announcements 5-27-20

Dear HC Band Family,

Well, what a wild semester….the last “official” day of school is finally upon us. I hope everyone is well and safe. Congratulations Seniors! We all are very proud of you for doing what no class has ever had to do and handling yourselves with dignity and grace in responding professionally against unprecedented adversity. I wish each of you and all senior families the very best moving forward and certainly hope that we will see you and your family again! If cleared safely, I would still like to do a senior gathering in the future whenever that may be! I will cherish the memories your class and your families created during our time together!

A few final announcements (for now):

1.) There is still time to get last minute makeup work turned in. The district allows a couple more weeks. Mr. Bayerle and I will be posting soon, but according to published policy, there is still time. We will let you know when grades have officially been posted.

2.) Thanks to all who returned school instruments and uniforms or picked up practice flags yesterday. If you missed us, Mr. Bayerle and I will be back in the building on Monday, June 1st in the morning. Please connect with us and we will still take instruments and uniforms from those not returning next year. If any color guard members missed us, we can still get you a practice flag.

3.) Color guard members should be on the lookout for instructions on how to measure themselves (with the help of a parent) for our custom designed uniforms soon. I would like to get all measurements in by the end of this upcoming weekend by Mon. June 1st. I’ll send instructions later today or early tomorrow.

4.) Please join us for our virtual Band Banquet on Monday, June 8th at 7:00 PM. We’ll send a zoom link soon. Despite how late the date is and making the best of the given situation, it will be a nice way to say our final “good byes.”

5.) New members (incoming 9th grade students) who need to rent an instrument may do so next Monday, June 1st. Mr. Bayerle will send specifics on how we’ll make this happen with relatively little contact. Quick note for new members…we only have big or hard to find instruments to rent at the high school level. We don’t typically have flutes, clarinets, alto saxophones, trumpets, etc….other than for emergency use. We’ll have to work with our inventory to the best of our ability in some cases. We will obviously do our best to accommodate everyone, but it is worth noting some areas are limited.

6.) All returning or new members should be looking out for communication as the summer progresses even at odd times. As we all know, things change daily and weekly. I will provide any clarity possible as we receive information about the summer and fall. I will be in or close to town for the majority of the summer so please feel free to contact me via email at william.kite@fayette.kyschools.us or via text at (859)338-5692 and I will do my very best to get back to you quickly.

Stay safe in the coming weeks and reach out if we can be of service. Seniors and families, we hope you will participate in the parade at the horse park on Thursday afternoon/evening. Mr. Bayerle and I are going to try to make sure you hear us and cheer you on 🙂

Love to all…thanks as always, for being a wonderful, supporting, and loving band family!

Sincerely,

Bill Kite
