Jazz Education Clinic Tues. Nov. 5th in HC Band Room 8 AM-3 PM

Good morning Band Family,

I wanted to share a jazz education clinic opportunity with you all! I have been reaching out to jazz directors who have programs involved in the Essentially Ellington Festival in NY City each May and got the opportunity to bring in Christopher Dorsey (Jazz Director at the Dillard Center for the Arts, Florida). His band has performed at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago a few times and is an annual finalist at the Ellington Festival each year and has won it a few times. I asked him to share his approaches to teaching improvisation and other concepts to help us learn and grow and work toward reaching the next level in our jazz performance.

He is coming in to do a clinic at Henry Clay HS tomorrow Tues. Nov. 5th from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM! I invited band directors from across the state, but also wanted to invite anyone interested in observing a true master educator.

The Clinic Band for tomorrow’s session with Mr. Dorsey is listed below and is a combination of HC and Lafayette HS students….any and all are welcome! It will go from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM in the HC Band Room (lunch 11-12).
