Dear Marching Band Family,
Mr. Bayerle, the staff, and I are grateful for your commitment, dedication, and service to each other and the band family! What a thrilling final weekend that featured our students performing with wonderful emotion and artistry on the nation’s biggest stage in the nation’s biggest show gaining a world class experience! The HCMB finished in 36th place out of the 84 bands from 10 different states that included numerous Bands of America past National Champions, Grand National Finalists and Semifinalists and many of the highest caliber programs from this region of the country! The HCMB final score for the show was a 76.25 and fell about 6 points shy of a finals spot and in the mix of about 25 bands all within 3 points of each other. In what was the fiercest competition we have been a part of since the 2014 BOA Grand National Championship, the HCMB represented our school community, FCPS, and the state of Kentucky with integrity and professionalism and I could not be more proud of the students, parents, and our team of staff! It is truly an honor to serve with you all.
It takes a tremendous family dynamic and effort to put on a production of this magnitude and I am overwhelmed by your work ethic, positive attitude, personal sacrifice, and your love of and service to each other. Maddy said it best in her concluding remarks Saturday night in the band room… “We are not alone…We are ALL in this together.” As we cherish our memories of an exhilarating marching band season and the legacy of those whose time is ending, please remember that the work and effort in the day to day details of the process is what makes the program continue to grow and get stronger from year to year.
As we sign off from another memorable MB experience, a heartfelt THANK YOU goes to our selfless students, team of parents (in pit crew, hospitality, uniforms, chaperones, communications, alumni serving by working Bingo, booster officers, etc.), and our dedicated staff who sacrificed enormous time and energy and continue to seek out ways to improve and grow so that each experience fulfills its potential. The future of the HC band program is a bright one full of vision and dreams for generations of students and band parents!
We have an exciting and action packed slate of events in our concert, jazz, and chamber programs planned throughout the rest of our band year! These events provide us with a comprehensive approach, core, and balance to performance that allows our program to continue to learn and grow in all areas! Please join us at all of our performance events this fall, winter, and spring and continue your wonderful support and dedication!
Thank you and we hope to see you at our Percussion/Jazz Concert on Monday, November 25th at 7:00 PM in our theater! Please check the calendar for all other schedule details at www.henryclayband.org. I will send out Senior Night details in the near future as we will recognize MB seniors before the home game this Friday 11/1.
