1st Week Reminders!

Dear HC Band Family,

I hope all are ready for an exciting beginning to the new school year!

I wanted to pass along a few reminders to all in case anyone may have missed the information last week.

It will be important for ALL families in the program to be familiar with the HC Band Online Calendar located on our website at www.henryclayband.org

Please remember, the HC Band program requires a strong commitment from families and participating students to ensure the highest quality band experience! We look forward to beginning a new journey with each and every band student!

SCHEDULE

Wednesday, August 14th First Day of School!

Students will NOT need instruments on the first day as we are on a shortened schedule due to homeroom and we will cover the class syllabus, commitment, and expectations.  The students WILL need instruments from Day 2 on…every day, forever… J

Jazz classes WILL meet on the first day of school at 7:30 AM in the band room on the first day! Anyone interested may attend whether you signed up for the class or not.  We will cover placement auditions and all jazz info for the year! All are welcome!

*Note- NEW this school year: There has been a change to the Henry Clay Band Daily Schedule…ADV Percussion will now meet 2nd hour and Symphonic Band will meet 3rd hour…please see below:

HC Band Daily Schedule (without homeroom)

Zero hour 7:30-8:20 AM:  Advanced Jazz classes

1st hour (8:25-9:25 AM): Percussion

*2nd hour (9:30-10:30 AM): Advanced Percussion

*3rd hour (10:35-11:35 AM): Symphonic Band

4th hour (11:40 AM-12:37 PM):  Wind Ensemble

We ALWAYS take 3rd lunch (12:40-1:05 PM regardless of what is printed on Adv Band/Theory members’ schedules.  Band students (only) may eat in the band room if they have 3rd lunch, but must bring lunch since the school does not allow students to bring food out of the cafeteria.

5th hour (1:10-2:10 PM): Concert Band

Thursday, August 15th

School day on a homeroom bell schedule. ALL HC band students should bring instruments to class this day and every day hereafter. Regular after school marching band rehearsals begin. MB Rehearsal is 3:45-7:15 PM. MB students must bring a change of clothes, water jug, and proper shoes to school so they can change at the end of the school day at 3:15 PM. Please be prepared!

Friday, August 16th

Band forms and class payments DUE! School day on a homeroom bell schedule. Marching Band rehearsal after school from 3:45-6:15 PM (please be prepared).

Saturday, August 17th

Bingo- Team Wiatrowski

We’ll need new parents to help with our Bingo program to sustain funding for the band program throughout the year and will get new members involved with a team if they aren’t already!

Monday, August 19th

Regular school day schedule.

Student Band Council meeting 3:30 PM in the band room

MB Rehearsal 3:45-6:15 PM

1st official BAND PARENT meeting of the year at 7:00 PM in the band room. We will welcome our Concert Only families and new members and discuss and coordinate plans for the year! Parents, please attend to become involved in helping us make your child’s band experience a great one!
