Good afternoon, Band Family. Here are some of the things we didn’t have time to talk about at Sunday’s marching band meeting, in no particular order.
Road Crew: The marching band road crew will be meeting this Thursday, the 25th at 6:30pm to tidy up the trailer and get it prepped for hauling props for this band season. This would be a great chance for anyone interested in helping with the road crew, to meet the current crew, and see what the job entails. We welcome all members of the family and can always use extra hands to make the season run smoothly. We hope to see you down by the baseball field Thursday at 6:30pm. Sponsorship: I’ve attached a revised sponsorship form. Please, circulate it broadly! If you own a business or know somebody who does, this is a great way to spend your advertising dollar. Your employer might be interested, too! Logos/art are due August 2nd, so don’t delay!! Late submissions will be happily accepted, but logos might not make it on the shirts/tower/trucks on time.
Chaperones: If you are interested in accompanying your students on our marching trips or concert trips as chaperones, you must have a completed FCPS background check on file. To apply please visit https://apps.fcps.net/volunteer/Default.asp and follow directions. This process can take a few weeks, so apply early! If you applied and were approved for a different school, you should use this link to update your profile to include Henry Clay. Communications: We need photographers! Make sure you take LOTS of pictures of your kids and their friends. You’ll need them for a project later on. If interested in joining our photography pool, please email email@example.com. The band’s official web site is https://henryclayband.org/. I suggest syncing the calendar to your smart phone and/or checking it often. The official Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/henryclayband/. We also have a Henry Clay Band Boosters (HCBB) Parent Support Group, but I should stress this is NOT our official page. It’s a closed group, but you can ask to join by visiting https://www.facebook.com/groups/hcbbparentgroup/.
Bingo: “Intro to Bingo” is a great way to get oriented and figure out which job is right for you. Spirit Wear: Orders will begin next week sometime. You’ll get an email with a link to the ordering web site with online payment options. For you new parents, I’ll be sending you a separate email about what’s already included in your band fees versus what items are optional for purchase. If you want to suggest that we offer a specific item for sale this year you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll check in to feasibility. No guarantees, but I’ll consider all suggestions.
