Good afternoon, Band Family. I know there’s a lot of information coming your way right now, but I wanted to reach out and explain a little bit about bingo.
As you know by now, bingo is our biggest fundraising effort. Our success at bingo is what makes our band fees among the lowest in the region. All band students and parents are expected to participate in bingo in some way.
The students will be assigned to bingo teams, each of which will have an upperclassman who is the bingo captain for that team. One bingo team will be assigned to work every Saturday night. Most students have more fun at bingo if they’re on the same team as their friends. If they aren’t sure what team they’re on yet, they can ask their section leaders once band resumes. Teams can see when they’re scheduled to work bingo by visiting henryclayband.org and accessing the calendar at the top of the page.
Both marching families and concert-only families can except to volunteer at bingo throughout the year. Concert-only students and parents work during the marching season (August through October), and marching students work the rest of the year. Each bingo team can expect to work between 5 to 7 Saturdays per year.
Students receive training on how to sell bingo pull tabs…little $1 cards that patrons “pull” open to reveal winnings. They learn customer service, cash handling, team work, and other valuable skills that look pretty good on a summer job resume.
To get started with Intro to Bingo, please access the sign-up genius and select your area of interest. Bring your student, and we’ll get them oriented, or re-trained in the case of older students, too. More dates and time will be added soon. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084cada62fa3fd0-intro1
Thanks for your time. This is going to be one exciting year!
