Reminders: Seniors: For the banquet, send in pictures for the slideshow. For details, see email from Rebecca Scott sent earlier this week. Deadline is Saturday, May 4.
Non-returning students: Have your concert wear dry-cleaned and return it in the garment bag that you were issued with your name in the pocket. There’s a rack in the band room where you can hang it. Deadline is May 17.
Everyone: the Pops Committee is collecting items for the silent auction. So that they will have time to organize everything, deadline for collection is this weekend. Dana Moore will be at school tomorrow at 3:30 and 8:00 pm if anyone wants to drop it off before or after the social event. She and Jenny will also be able to take stuff at the picnic on Sunday. For details on items, please see email from Dana Moore and Jenny Minier that was sent earlier this week.
All students: Tomorrow after school all band students are invited to attend the social event sponsored by the Band Council (made up of students). There will be games and pizza.
Parents: For the social event tomorrow, if you are willing to “Buy a Pie” and help offset the cost of the pizza, please send in monetary donations in an envelope to Lisa Gray’s attention. Envelopes can be put in the Band Box. (Pizzas are $6 each.)
Students who will be in band next year and some parents who would like to meet new parents: New Member Picnic on Sunday, 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Jacobson Park.
Disney: meeting on Thursday, May 9, at 8:00 pm, in the band room, for those interested in the Disney trip which will take place over Spring Break 2020.
Parents: our next and last band booster meeting of this year will be Monday, May 13, at 7:00 pm. We will be installing officers for the 2019-20 school year. We need someone to fill the position of Recording Secretary.
Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior parents: As we close out the school year, everyone involved in the band program is now a veteran. Everyone understands what it takes to keep things moving smoothly and the reward that comes from working hard and having fun together. We have numerous positions that need to be filled – most are bingo related. It’s your program now. Those of us who have seniors and are leaving the program have worked diligently over the time that our kids have been involved to be able to pass off a program that is financially sound. It’s not our program anymore. We greatly appreciate the parents that have stepped up over the past couple months to begin training for bingo positions but we need more. Personally, I will gladly continue to work through the summer, even though I will no longer have a child in the band program, to train people who want to help with bingo. What I am not willing to do is to continue to work bingo because no one who currently has a child in the program is willing to cover my position. We need your help. You can find job descriptions at the link below. If you’re interested in helping with bingo, I’d encourage you to come on any Saturday night. There are different jobs so you might find you prefer one over the other.
These are critical roles that need to be filled ASAP:
Bingo: Callers, Pulltab Supervisors/Assistants, Paper Supervisors/Assistants, Volunteer Coordinator, Paper Counter (All of these positions require training.)
Other: Hospitality for marching band, Hospitality for concert season, Recording Secretary
