Assessment Week and HC Jazz TONIGHT!

Dear Band Family,

I hope all are well! We have an exciting week as we travel to assessment and the jazz ensemble performs TONIGHT!

Mon. 3/25

Symphonic Band Rehearsal (makeup) 3:45-5:45 PM

HC Jazz Ensemble opens for DOJO and guest artist, Anders Astrand (vibraphone) at Comedy Off Broadway at 7:15 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults/$5 for students. Call time for students is 6:30 PM in all black at the comedy club.

Wed. 3/27

KMEA District Concert Band Assessment

3:15 PM All Concert Band/Symphonic Band/Wind Ensemble students should report to the band room to eat an early dinner provided by the HC Band Parents!

Students should also change into concert attire at this time AFTER they have eaten dinner.  Concert attire is full tuxedos, black dresses, black socks, black DRESS shoes*

4:30 PM     Buses depart HC for Frederick Douglass High School

4:50 PM     Buses arrive at Frederick Douglass High School

  • All CONCERT BAND students report to warm up room with all needed equipment immediately

5:00 PM    Concert Band warm up

*During the Wind Ensemble sight reading evaluation, students will pack up instruments and load equipment onto buses to return to HC.  Please load vehicles quickly and efficiently. * 

9:30 PM  Buses depart FDHS for HC

10:00 PM  Buses arrive back at HC

  • All students must help unloadequipment and clean up band room
  • All times are approximate depending on how quickly and efficiently we are able to move equipment

10:20 PM (apx) Dismissal Home


*Please be on time and strictly observe arrival, warm up, performance, and departure times.

*Remember all students are traveling together as a group and are representing the HC band, themselves, and Henry Clay High School.  All rules will be strictly observed.

*Attire for this concert is CONCERT BLACK ATTIRE…. Full tuxedos, dresses, dress black shoes, and black socks.
