Information Round-Up for States!

Good afternoon, Band Family! I can’t believe this is my last information round-up of the season! What a whirlwind.

I’m sending this out to all of the members of our band family in the hope that all of our current and alumni members will come out and support the Henry Clay Marching band as we compete in state-wide Semifinals and (hopefully!) finals. The band will take the field at Commonwealth Stadium in semifinal performance at 12:45pm. Spread the word!!

As always, please carefully review Mr. Kite’s itinerary.

The next few days are crazy! Let’s get those kids prepared. Don’t forget, they’ll need money for the Fayette Mall food court on Friday. Also, please note that Saturday’s call time is 7:45am. I’m just pointing this out because it’s earlier than usual.

Hospitality: You can find Lisa Gray’s sign-up genius here. Please make sure breakfast items are in the band room no later than 9:15 on Saturday morning. If you are contributing donations for Saturday’s lunch, Lisa must have those items Friday evening in the band room so they can be loaded on the truck first thing Saturday.

Chaperones: Amy Sommer already sent an email to Saturday’s chaperones. As a reminder, we’ll meet in the hall outside the band room at 10:15 Saturday morning. We’ll be in the parking lot for about an hour during lunch on Saturday, so feel free to bring a chair if you’d like.

Lost and Found: Believe it or not, we still have at least 1 missing fleece jacket and 1 pair of marching shoes. Please check to make sure your kid doesn’t have more than one of these items at home!

Uniforms: Please make sure marching shoes have been wiped clean Friday night. Also, please make sure all marchers are wearing tall (crew length or taller) solid black socks before they leave your house Saturday morning. It doesn’t hurt to send an extra pair along!!

Weather: The current forecast for Saturday looks cloudy with a high near 53 and a 20% chance of showers. We’re going to be sitting in the stands a lot in the afternoon, so please make sure your marcher dresses appropriately.

Tickets: Tickets can still be purchased until 4:30 today by phone. The number is 859-314-3456. After that you will have to purchase them on-site at Kroger Field starting at 10am on Saturday, October 27. ALL TICKETS ARE CASH ONLY!!! General admission tickets are $13. Tickets are $15 for Reserved, $20 for Preferred, and $25 for Premium. Children age six and under are free but will not have a guaranteed seat for finals reserved seating and may have to be held by an adult. Here is a photo of the seating area and a ticket availability diagram As far as I can tell, Pit Crew will need a ticket to enter the viewing area to watch other bands, but I could be wrong.

Parking: Here is a link to the parking map. It looks like our truck area will be somewhere between the stadium and KCTCS. UK/KCTCS employees should NOT expect their usual parking passes to be honored on Saturday. Parents should make sure to park in the areas marked for spectators. Expect there to be traffic, especially if you plan to attend finals.

Other: There will be a reserved spot for Dan Sirrine to video our semifinals performance but no video recordings are allowed at finals. KMEA has a vendor that does that for them from whom copies can later be purchased. The SMBC site says concessions will be available, but I’m not sure if that’s for 5A as well as the other divisions that will be competing at school sites around Lexington, so don’t count on it. If you have people coming to watch from out of town who want to book a hotel room they should do so soon if they haven’t already. Lexington is already roughly half booked for Saturday night.

OK, I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, so let me know if you have any questions. So excited!!
