Volunteers needed for 8th grade band night

Dear Marching Band Families,

This Friday night, Sept. 29, we are hosting 8th grade students from our feeder schools. Over 130 eighth graders have signed up to come. We need your help in several areas. (I’ve put the times below.)

Greeters (5:15-6:45pm): We want them to feel welcomed. We need parents who are willing to talk to parents and students about the band program, to their answer questions, and to give directions.

Hospitality (5:00-6:30pm): We will be feeding the eighth graders plus our marching band. We need help setting up the food tables and replenishing them as the kids go through the line.

Sign-in and Shirts (5:15-6:30pm): Welcome the students, check them off the list, give them an HC band shirt.

Chaperones (6:45-end of game): Stay with the band throughout the game.

For a lot of these students and parents, this is their initial contact with our band. It’s always nice to see a familiar face. With that in mind, it would be great to have as many sophomore and freshmen parents involved as possible as they have most recently been in contact with the middle schools, but all parents are welcome to participate. If any of the greeters, hospitality team or sign-in people want to chaperone, those times don’t overlap, so you can do both. You can sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4eabad2aa2ff2-8thgrade.

This is always a fun event with over 200 students in the band in the stands and it will be a great opportunity for all of us to see our marching band in full uniform perform our show on our home field at halftime!
