Dear HC Band Family,
I hope everyone had a safe and healthy summer! I hope the upcoming 2017-18 school year is a great one for all!
Just a few announcements to start our band year:
1.) There WILL be zero hour (7:30-8:20 AM) JAZZ Band class on the first day of school, this Wednesday, 8/16 in the band room. All interested students should attend and we will cover the course expectations and hand out a brief audition piece for placement. Auditions for placement will be held next week! We can always enroll students not already enrolled in jazz band.
2.) Students will NOT need instruments on the first day of school on Wednesday, but will need their instrument every day from that point forward 🙂
3.) With FCPS decision to cancel school on the Solar Eclipse day next Monday, August 21st, marching band practice that day has been cancelled. The Dr. Tim Leadership Seminar has been moved to Monday, August 28th from 6-8:30 at Lafayette HS. Students interested in attending should give us their names and $20 by Friday, August 25th. The Band Parent Meeting will be moved to Tuesday, August 22nd at 7:00 PM in the band room.
I would encourage any and all parents and family members to become active at band parent meetings! For those just joining our band family, “it takes a village” to provide our students the best possible band experience and all of our band parents are volunteers who support the students and help provide the band excellent opportunities.
