Stadium seating removal Dec. 3

Dear HC Band students and families,

Remember all those seatbacks we installed at Commonwealth Stadium in August? The season is winding down and now we have to remove them and pack them away. UK’s last home game is the weekend before Thanksgiving, so the removal is scheduled for Saturday, December 3.

All band students are required to participate in this event, which is the band program’s second largest fundraiser. (Bingo is first, just in case you were wondering.)

There are a lot of other things going on that day, so we will again work in overlapping 3-hour shifts. Student sign-up sheets will be posted in the band room next week. Please coordinate with your young people so they sign up for the correct shift!

The shifts will be divided as follows:

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 12 to 3 p.m.
  • 1 to 4 p.m.
  • 2 to 5 p.m.

We will need 35 students and 5-10 adults for each shift. If you have experience or interest in a particular task (removal, stacking, pallet wrapping, etc.) please let us know. You are also welcome to work longer than your shift.

Water and generous snacks will be provided throughout the day. Everybody should plan to eat a good meal before coming to the stadium.

We’ll give more details in the next couple weeks, but we wanted everyone to get this date on their calendars and sign up for work shifts.
