BOA Wrap Up and upcoming KMEA Quarterfinal

Dear Band Family,  I hope all were able to rest for at least a couple hours yesterday 🙂  Thanks to all for a great trip to North Carolina!  The performance experience in THAT venue was amazing and our students made us all proud!  To recap the events of the day, the band put on a good show in a very competitive national field of marching bands in Winston-Salem.  Unfortunately, the band missed the evening finals and finished in 19th place overall.  There were some very wide interpretations and reads of our show by the judges that led to a wide spread of ordinals from a scoring standpoint.  You may feel free to check out the various ordinal differences in the preliminary recap at:

As I have told the students, they are very capable of competing with any band in the nation and should continue to focus on our work process and how to improve in all areas to be the best they can possibly be.  There are many positives to take away from the students’ effort this past weekend and we will continue to improve and build excitement as we enter the elimination round of the KMEA State Marching Band Championship this Saturday, Oct. 22nd at Bryan Station HS.

A SPECIAL thank you to all of the parents who made our trip to North Carolina possible!  There are many challenges with traveling in a big group and our band parents are the absolute best when it comes to organizing, planning, preparing, and executing a big trip!  From our booster president to hospitality to uniform parents to chaperones to pit crew, we ran a professional operation every step of the way.  A shout out to our pit crew chief, Cameron Beard for juggling all of the equipment responsibilities between blown trailer tires and numerous issues along the way!  He made it happen and most people probably didn’t even realize the struggle.  His commitment and dedication to our program over the years has been at the highest imaginable level and we can’t thank him enough along with all of our dedicated family members!

We move onto the KMEA class 5A East Quarterfinal this upcoming Saturday, Oct. 22nd.  We have a BUSY week of preparation and will work to ensure our best performance yet!  The key to our success is getting EVERY student into every rep and really refining the work that is layered into our show!
