It’s that time of year again, when we “Pack the Parking Lot” toward the end of each week’s last marching band rehearsal. Usually that means Thursday afternoons, but this week we’ll start on Saturday. Arrive to see the last 15-20 minutes of rehearsal and you will see one to two run-throughs of what the marchers have learned so far. Each week you will see improvement and growth of the show! You can stand or bring a lawn chair if you want to sit and watch a while.
The benefits of Pack the Parking Lot are many: Parents and families learn more about the work the marchers are doing, and they learn where to clap and lead audience reaction. Students will appreciate your presence and interest, and your applause and cheers will help them learn what to expect from audiences. Be sure to ask your student(s) afterward how they felt about the run-throughs. Just listen, and you will likely get an earful and learn a lot at the same time!
Remember, Pack the Parking Lot is the last portion of the last practice of each week. This week, come on out around 5:40pm or so on Saturday (practice is scheduled to end at 6pm). The next week we’ll start the usual Thursday timing.
See you then!
