Campbell Co. wrap up and we’re onto Ryle 🙂
Dear Marching Band Family,
Thanks to all for a great day this past Saturday in Campbell County! The band had 2 solid performances and earned a late finals spot, eventually finishing 4th overall and won best percussion. The band’s initial score increased from preliminary performance by approximately 2 points after a good finals run and the staff is very pleased with the progress made over the last few weeks! It was a good field of bands and several other groups also had strong final performances with one band increasing their score by almost 7 points which should be a new KMEA record 🙂
Thanks to our outstanding parents and families for the energy and support over the weekend in the stands! Special thanks to all of those parents who worked so hard to make this event possible: pit crew, hospitality crew, chaperones, uniform workers, etc. many of whom were at Henry Clay until after 2 AM cleaning up and unloading equipment!
It definitely “takes a village” and we appreciate your hard work!
As we move onto Ryle (see Itinerary) this Saturday, we have a BIG week and it is important that all band students take care of themselves physically since we are in a stretch with 6 competitions weekends out of 7 weeks and it will require tremendous energy and endurance. We will continue to make adjustments and add things to the marching show requiring the highest levels of investment and commitment from our students on a daily basis.
Please see the schedule ahead:
Mon. (today) 9/21
NO MB rehearsal due to a change in volleyball schedule
Band Parent Meeting in the band room at 7:00 PM. Please come support the program and ask how you can help! We need your involvement to make your child’s band experience a great one!
MB rehearsal 3:45-6:15 PM
We will have a guest at rehearsal, Mr. Jeff Hood (retired director from PLD) to give us valuable feedback.
MB rehearsal 3:45-6:15 PM
We will have another guest at rehearsal, Mr. Scott Atchison (director of UK marching band).
MB rehearsal 3:45-7:15 PM
PACK the PARKING LOT! We would like to use the big props again on Thursday so if as many pit dads as possible could come, it would be greatly appreciated! We could always use more help on the field as well this Saturday.
Home Football Game- 8th Grade Band Night!
This will involve only HC marching band students and all incoming students.
135 eighth grade students are projected to be with us on Friday night!
We will perform our show for the 8th graders at halftime!
Call time is 5:15 PM….HS students will welcome the 8th grade. We will begin eating with the 8th grade students BEFORE the game this year at 5:30 PM. Marching band members should begin changing into uniform at 6:15 PM AFTER they have eaten. Do NOT eat in full uniform. Everyone will warm up quickly at 6:30 PM. Unofficial uniform under the marching uniform will be HC Blue Devil Band shirt, black shorts, black socks, and black shoes. While we will release 8th grade after halftime, all HS students need to be prepared to stay and perform in pep band for the entire game.
Ryle Contest Day
Call Time is 8:00 AM on the field…see itinerary…please review details carefully.
One quick NOTE about upcoming contests:
