Dear Jazz Families,
This is our BIG week!! I’m writing to remind families about some details pertaining to this week!
First, permission forms and $3.00 (for dinner tomorrow) were due last Friday, 2/4. I currently am missing forms and/or money from the several students! Please get this to me by tomorrow! I have attached another permission form if needed.
Please also understand that the last time the jazz ensemble took this trip each student paid approximately $50.00. This time students are only paying $3.00 and the boosters are funding the rest of the trip and experience! Please help us to continue to have these opportunities by giving back to the program through fundraising!
I am very pleased with the group’s work and performance at the Comedy Club last week, however, we still have some much needed refining to do in rehearsal this week. Please see the schedule below:
Thursday, Feb. 10: No o hour rehearsal…please, please, please practice individually 🙂
Friday, Feb. 11: KMEA CONFERENCE PERFORMANCE
KMEA CONFERENCE ITINERARY
8:25 AM Check in with 1st hour teacher (everyone MUST do this!!)
**Students may want to consider arriving during 0 hour time to do a relaxed warm-up**
8:45 AM Report to Band Room to Load equipment on Charter Bus
9:15 AM Get on bus for Attendance and Equipment/ Music Check (“If you play it, bring it!”)
9:30 AM Depart for Louisville
11:00 AM Arrive at Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC)
Report to “holding” room for storage…students should arrive in ALL BLACK ATTIRE but may opt to change after performance. Please be professionally dressed as you will attend concerts throughout the day.
**All students MUST bring a bag lunch to eat at this time or just prior on the bus! The HC boosters are providing dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory, but it will be a LONG DAY if you do not eat lunch!**
12:00 PM Sound Check/Rehearsal in Cascade A-B Room (Performance Hall)
12:40 PM Sound Check/Rehearsal Ends
12:50 PM HCJE KMEA Conference Performance Begins!

1:30 PM KMEA Performance Ends
1:35 PM Load equipment onto charter bus
2:00 PM Students visit Exhibit Halls (All students MUST have their “Conference Participant Badge” with them at ALL times!)
2:55 PM Students will have options to continue visiting Exhibit Hall or watch clinics/concerts
Morehead State University Vocal Jazz Ensemble Performs in Room 207-208 (upstairs in KICC)
3:15 PM Option B:
University of Louisville Wind Symphony Performs in Cascade Room A-B (KICC)
4:30 PM All students and chaperones meet in lobby of KICC (in front of the registration tables and Exhibit Hall)
4:45 PM Travel to Old Spaghetti Factory as a group
5:00 PM Dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory
**All-State Jazz/Band/Orchestra participants will need to leave to attend evening rehearsals. The HC jazz group will leave together to travel to All-State/Intercollegiate Jazz Concert**
8:00 PM All-State/Intercollegiate Jazz Ensemble Concert
10:15 PM (apx) Depart Louisville for Lexington
11:30 PM Arrive home in Lexington……Unload equipment
