Dear HC Band Alumni,
I hope all are well and enjoying the next phase of life whatever and wherever that may be! I wanted to share a bit of good news with you!
The HC Marching Band competed at Grayson County High School this past Saturday and was named Grand Champion for the first time in a couple of years! The students, parents, and staff are excited about the progress and are looking forward to the upcoming performances!
For anyone interested in attending, the marching band will be competing in the KMEA State Marching Championship Quarterfinals this Saturday 10/23 at Bryan Station High School at 8:00 PM! We would love to see as many supporters of the Blue and Gold as possible! We are hoping to have a strong quarterfinal run to push us through to the Class AAAAA Semifinal at Papa John’s Stadium next week.
Thanks to all who invested so much time and energy to create this oustanding tradition of excellence at HC!
Sincerely,
Bill Kite

The HC Band students, family and directors participate in numerous musical arts activities, through both Henry Clay and the community. When events arise, we like to get the word out so we can support one another and enjoy the gifts of the HC Band family and the musical arts in our community!
This Sunday at the Singletary Center for the Arts at 3:00P is a free concert that kicks off an effort for the UKJE (University of Kentucky Jazz Ensemble) to raise funds for a European jazz tour this summer. Attached is the flyer for the event.
Mr. Kite will be playing with two of the groups, along with several guest artists that have been featured with the HC Band at one time or another, and there will be many good musicians performing!
Come and enjoy this wonderful jazz arts event!
I hope all are well and enjoyed some time off last week to rest and recharge! We are entering the final 3 weeks of the season and have an exciting finish planned! I have attached an itinerary for the competition this weekend at Grayson Co. High School in Leitchfield, KY. Please read and observe all details carefully. It is important that we are well organized and prepared for this commitment!
Please observe the schedule below for the week:
Wed. 10/13: Rehearsal 4-6 PM
Thurs. 10/14: Rehearsal 4-7 PM
Fri. 10/15: Homecoming Football Game. Call time TBA (be prepared for an early time) as I am waiting for confirmation on whether or not we are able to perform our show before the game due to homecoming festivities at halftime. Unofficial uniform will be the HC Band Shirt, Black Shorts, Black Socks.
Sat. 10/16: Grayson Co. Competition Day! Call time is 8:00 AM on the field. Please understand that there is a PSAT being given at HC on Sat. We will need to enter and exit the building through the exterior door by the band room during our morning rehearsal time and not use any other part of the building until our meeting time at 1:00 PM. Also, please make note of the Central Standard Times on the itinerary and the late arrival time back to HC. Please be prepared.
We must all work together as a family during the last few weeks of the season. We are only guaranteed 5 more rehearsals and 2 weeks. The students must earn the right to be named a semifinalist in class 5A at the Quarterfinal on Sat. 10/23.
Attendance is the key to success! There were 5 or 6 students absent yesterday and we changed all of the 2nd movement. We must build a culture of attendance and full participation!
Thank you for your effort this season! I am looking forward to seeing the group grow, mature, and finish strong!
Sincerely,
Bill Kite
