Dear HC Band Family, I hope all are getting a chance to rest today after a busy week!
First, I have to congratulate all of our students who participated in the all district bands last week concluding yesterday with one of the most memorable concerts in my memory!
The work the all district concert band students did with Mr. Boulden was astounding and the performance of “Night” followed by “Ave Maria” was the most moving concert band performance I have ever heard or seen! I literally worked hard to “keep it together” during the slide presentation and quote at the end. Very rarely, do we witness that kind of power in a musical performance including the audience reaction. Bravo!
BIG kudos to the symphonic band as well! Your program was of the highest caliber and quality literature and is easily the most demanding and difficult program I have ever seen at any level honor band! Your work ethic and professionalism should never be under estimated and should be credited as collegiate ensembles and all state bands across the country would have tremendous difficulty with the program you presented yesterday! I appreciate the attentiveness and respect paid to Dr. Price, who is a world renowned conductor, composer, and percussionist! He challenged you (in a very matter of fact manner) with a tremendously ambitious program and I recently learned that he will attempt this exact program NEXT weekend with the Missouri all state band. Congratulations on an amazing performance!
I’m very proud of all of the students who participated this weekend! Parents, thank you for your unwavering support of the arts and for pushing your children even when tasks seem insurmountable! The reward in an appreciation, family teamwork experience, and the power music has on us as humans is everlasting!
HUGE thanks to Mr. Bayerle for working to organize, maintain, and run this operation as district 7 band chair! He gave up hours and hours of time and effort for this great experience for the students in this region of KY.
Also, another terrific honor band opportunity has arrived for a few students in our HC band family. CONGRATULATIONS to James Piper, Ginny Smith, and Andrew Osborn for being selected the University of KY Honors Wind Ensemble! They will get a chance to work with a world renowned conductor in late February and perform with another collection of amazing student musicians.
Thanks to all….please continue to plan and prepare for HC band events this spring by viewing our online calendar on our website at www.henryclayband.org
